You probably know that your teeth can suffer from a number of injuries—but did you know that your pearly whites could change color after you suffer trauma? While you may think teeth whitening could be enough to correct this problem, it actually isn’t. Fortunately, there are many things you could do after you suffer trauma to your teeth.

You see, your teeth can actually bleed internally like other parts of your body can. Blood can leak through your nerves and discolor the pulp of a damaged tooth. This bleeding can actually continue for months if the issue isn’t addressed. However, even if your teeth turn black, your tooth isn’t necessarily dead. In fact, our dentist could recommend root canal therapy to save your tooth.

Unfortunately, a child could experience these issues more regularly than adults do because they tend to fall often while they learn to walk. Even though children fall more frequently, their damaged teeth can actually heal. Please don’t misunderstand: your child’s teeth could still change color, but the color should reverse quickly. If it doesn’t change within a few days, please contact our team as soon as you can.
